Alma mittens
Sizes: xs-s (m-l)
Width: 9 (11) cm, measured flat
Length: 25 (27) cm, or desired length
Gauge: 22 sts = 10 cm
Needles: 4 mm circular needle (at least 60 cm) for magic loop, or 4 mm double-pointed needles
Yarn: Sandnes alpakka ull or Rauma mitu or Drops karisma or Fonty coeur d’angora or Sandnes cashmere
Yarn amount: You will need a total of two balls to knit a pair of mittens (same for both sizes) — either one of each color or two of the same color (based on the yarn having a yardage of 100m/50g).
The mittens are worked bottom-up in stripes. A contrast thread is knit in where the thumb will be placed; the thumb is then picked up and worked afterwards. Both mitten and thumb are finished with decreases at the top.
The mittens are worked using a single strand of yarn. Feel free to combine different yarn types (this is a perfect scrap-yarn project), but make sure they have approximately the same gauge.
The mittens in the photos (size –S) are knitted in Sandnes Alpakka Ull (Provence Blue and Deep Burgundy).
